Capt. does the shop offer a saw tooth grind for the #7 ???
small saw teeth would look cool, however, I think just the top edge sharpened would be more usable than the saw teeth. I think descalers look terrible, Just my opinion.

A well dressed #7 or old style #8 would fit the bill quite well in my opinion. Much bigger doesn't work too well for cleaning panfish, walleye, or the occasional northern pike. A 4-5" blade is just right for other fishing camp chores also. Not much that can't be done, actually, with a 5" blade. That's just my opinion, it will certainly be interesting watching this build progress.

I agree, descalers look horrible. Not that we could get that on this knife anyways. I'll stick to scaling them with a spoon or the spine of my knife.

I don't "scale"...I "skin" the fish I clean. It is sooooo much faster and much less mess! I disagree with Pappy about the Large Filet, #6-9" being good on smaller fish. Yeah: You can use it but some waste occurs and it's just too much knife!
Best, Capt. Chris

I don't filet bluegills. To me that's a waste. I head & gut them.
Scale them, cook'em up.

So would you think a spine de-scaler would be a good idea?
I bring this up because as a salt water fisher all my life, scales are an issue on certain fish, others not. It's idea for discussion and thought it might have interest. If it doesn't work no foul, move on. I don't know if we could even do this crazy idea.
Someone must have thought about it before, Tune showed it several days ago.

I only scale bluegills & goggle eyes..........and I hate it!!!! Scales go everywhere cry
Bigger fish we just blacken down here.

What model was the knife that Billy showed on the locked thread? That's a nice blade! a little short for my liking does it come longer?
