In my opinion, the Fireman is bit "stout" and bulky for the job. It'll definitely "shuck"...not "suck" if tasked with the job though! Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris PS: A Small Gambler would be my choice...CCS
It would probably work great. The finger grips and flat handle would be a plus. It's best to get the gloves that are made for doing it & a clamp or holder if you are a beginner.

You read my mind. I ordered one of the ironwood handled oyster knives from Grant.
The Wadden Sea next to Denmark is full off oysters. Great oyster harvesting at low tide. My oldest son really likes oystering with his original Behring oyster knife, but he wants one with a bigger handle.
