Guilty Pleasures.
Here’s the idea ...
We all collect, use, love Randall Knives, and other “high end” expensive hand made knives.
But do any of you, like me, also have attachments to inexpensive, and/or mass produced knives? ...
Kind of, well ... a guilty pleasure? ... Guilty in a fun way ... not a put down!
Well, I love my Micarta-handled Gerber pocket knife ... carry it almost every day.
And I have two more, another ivory micarta and a maroon micarta. I’ll photograph them soon.
Also, here is a Gerber Sportsman II and a big ol’ Kabar 1184 folding hunter
with plastic stag scales ... I KNOW ... but I love it!

Guilty as charged!

My EDC Mon-Fri is a utilitarian Spyderco Delica. On weekends I dress up with a Case slip-joint or other small folder. And on special occasions or when I feel the need for a good luck charm, I like to carry a special knife like a vintage Case or a pocketknife that belonged to my grandfather (and his were all inexpensive working knives).

None of these folders cost more than a hundred dollars, and most of them were closer to half that much. But that's part of the charm. When I want to reward myself without spending much money I pore over a Smokey Mountain Knifeworks catalog and order a new pocketknife. Getting a new knife in the mail, even a mass-produced one, is always fun.

I really like that Gerber with micarta scales. I've never seen one of those. Please do post a photo of the maroon one. I just did a quick search for one (they are discontinued?) and only found this one on Ebay. Is this the same model?

That's the one. The box mine came in says CLASSIC L.S.T. Ivory Micarta.
I believe the L.S.T. was made, and is still made I think, with different handle
material, including a black hard rubber at the low end. (Have one of those too! :D)
I found the maroon one on the AG Russell web site - Cutting Edge.
Keep looking ... you'll probably find a nice one that isn't a promotional model.
I found that Kabar folder and another one - a barlow - on Ebay for a real reasonable price ... around $32.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great idea for a topic Tony. I just started one about Swiss Army Knives. I plan on picking some up this upcoming weekend at The Florida Knifemakers Show in Lakeland, Fl. In the meantime I hope some other members post some pics over on that thread. As I have mentioned (over there) I really, "really" like Remington "Bullet" knives. The newer stuff (2005 and on) doesn't do a thing for me, but the priors do. Camillus made them for Remington (starting in 1982, I think) and they are terrific knives. They are easily sharpened, especially for a stainless knife. Both of these 2 pictured in the next couple of posts have skinned, field-dressed and butchered several whitetail deer....no problem!!

It's a cool 2 blade, but the 1984 (and 1990, which can be found a whole lot cheaper) is/are my absolute favorite size "Tracker". Remington was probably not the first to call these "Trackers" verses "trappers". Perry could probably tell you more but they are significantly larger (top-to-bottom) than any trapper, except those Trapper/Hunters. Of course, you could probably call the "Trapper/Hunters" a Tracker also...Who knows?? Here's a couple of photos of the 1984 and a custom "African Croc" sheath. I'm sorry, but I don't know the sheath maker on this one.

I have to admit, I've never used this one ... while I carry the Ivory Micarta a lot!

I took more than a second look ... I was impressed with your Remington Bullets,
and I have of late been attracted to folders with wood handles, so I grabbed this off of ebay
for very little money. A 1989 Trapper with Coco Bolo scales. I LOVE THIS BABY ... it is HEFTY!
Just under 4.5" and solid. The stainless steel blades are a real plus. In mint condition ...
but I've been carrying it every day since it arrived on Friday! It will be a good weekend knife for me.
