David, Tom and others,
The list is correct...."BUT" (ever notice...There always seems to be a "but") it is not complete. The "slotted" handles are not mentioned, nor is the specs for the #24-4", "Guardian" or the "Small Gambler". These Randalls have entirely different specs.
TOM: The Model #27-5 3/4", "Trailblazer" takes the exact same center piece as does the Model #25-5 & 6", "Trappers". SO: A good amount of the knives ya'll are wanting to supply handle material for are covered here! Hope that serves as enough "verification" for ya'. Best, Capt. Chris

Capt. Chris--

In one of your posts you were going to talk about the different spacer combinations that might be available. If you have a chance to cover this, it will help those of us who might be not be up to date on the choices. Are spacer combinations counted as "options" when planning a knife?

Thanks for your help.

Larry...and other members,
Spacers that are "currently" available...and this is straight from my last printed letter from Valerie, at Randall, are as follows:

A) Naturally the standard configuration is red, white and blue.

B) All red spacers (an option, but not chargeable and can be ordered on any Randall that the red, white and blue could be ordered on).

C) All black spacers (Same rules apply as "B")

D) Brass spacers (with "black" is the standard configuration, unless otherwise requested)

E) Brass spacers (with "red", upon request)

F) Aluminum spacers (again: with "black" unless otherwise requested)

G) Aluminum spacers (with "red" : Same rules apply as "F")

These are the only spacer combinations available. Now..Collars? A different story. Hope this answers your questions. Best, Capt. Chris

Capt. Chris, would you please give us a list of the "alphabet soup" the shop uses, and what each one means?
Thanks,
-Steve

Steven,
I'll do this a few at a time, as the forum response time keeps sending me to "time out". Best, Capt. Chris

Thanks, Capt. Chris.
By the way, there's a way to avoid the frustration of timing out on a server when your message is long or complicated. Try composing all the information off-line, maybe using Word or another word-processing program. Then, when it's complete and organized the way you want it, just copy the text, go to the Forum, and paste the text into the Forum post area. (This works best with straightforward paragraphs, and may become a bit scrambled if you try to use tabs.)

Tell ya' what Steve. You keep posting the hard stuff and pics, etc. I'll teach ya'll about building Randalls. Sound good?
First: There are 3 ways to order stainless steel blades.

A) SS1 (stainless steel up to and including 5 1/2" in length)

B) SS2 (stainless steel blades from 5 1/2"-8"). This includes #27's (5 3/4") and #12-8"s.

C) SS3 (stainless steel blades over 8" in length) The only Randall currently qualified for this is the #12-9", #14 grind.

It's a start! Best, Capt. Chris

Capt. Chris,

This is going to be good, like 1st grade for new Randall enthusiast!

After you wind up the blade codes how about the codes for the hilts?
