My first model was this Smithsonian Bowie. The DVDs are from a 1950's TV show.

This was my first, and is still a favorite. I ordered it in 1962 or 1963, I think. Had to replace the sheath in the early 1970's when the original was badly water damaged and rotted. The "new" one is a waxed sheath in hopes that it will be more water-resistant.

My first Randall was actually two - my #23 standard and my #14 standard. They are still my favorites.

I picked up a model 8 w/ NS, all red spacers, and compass from Rob at LHGK. Love that thing! It is my first, but I got a #27 in the mail and a #5-6 (Brad set up) in the works from the Captain. I'm also a perty excited newbie! Learning a lot from you guys and I appreciate it.

Back in 1999 or so in the Copley Mall in Boston there was this place called Stoddards, I am sure you guys know of the store. Anyway, they had a Stoddard's Special and I was able to get one, with no sheath. A few weeks later, my girlfriend (who is now my wife)had a talk with me by Fenway Park (the mass pike goes right by kenmore sq. and there is a bridge) anyway we sat there overlooking the pike by Fenway and she told me that she was prego with our daughter. I was floored, and mighty scared. I walked into the Cask and ordered a double jack. I sold the Stoddard's Special a week later not getting what I paid for it. It was/is a great knife. Many ups and downs have come our way since that knife but anyway, 4 kids and a bernese moutain dog later my wife and I are still going strong looking over the pike. Thanks for letting me relive those times...
cheers! scott

My first Randall was a standard #14. It was (and still is) my faithful companion on excursions... Best,

My first Randall was a RKS #5 that I ordered from Rhett and Janie. My sister had told me that "a couple of really good folks had opened a store with some really pretty, but expensive knives" in our little mountain community. She was correct on all counts. After spending a good amount of time visiting the store three days in a row I joined the RKS, ordered the knife that I wouldn't see for over a year and bought a couple of hardback books on Randalls. Randalls are truly outstanding knives and Rhett and Janie genuinely wonderful people.
