The retirement of Greg Gutcher within the next year will end over a quarter century of exquisite, handmade sheaths. Though Sullivan's Holster will continue to supply Randall Made Knives with sheaths of the highest quality in their history, I thought it would be nice to honor Greg's custom work. Let's see your Gutcher made custom Randall sheath.

OK... I'll get it started. This pair is one of only two pairs that were specially crafted for serial number #001 and #030 of my 30th. anniversary sets and feature a crocodile front and keeper strap.

Yee-HAA! That's what I'm talkin' about. Looks like Peter's got the market cornered on south-paw sheaths!

Greg did 2 pouch sheaths with Diamond Edge sharpeners for my #5-5 and also for my 7-4 3/4 back in the mid-1990's, along with 3 "slip-on" holsters for my S&W's and my Ruger P90.

Here are my 4 Beaver Tail sheaths, 3 with silver quarters. The one for my #3-6 has a high-rise config and a canteen snap. This is my all time favorite Gutcher custom sheath.

Great sheaths and holsters. I can see why you really like the beaver tail.

Boy, I sure can't match the beautiful exotic leathers you folks have shown, but I do have a few customs from Greg. Here are three: two copper rivet sheaths, and a third rivet-sheath made to hold both a #14 and a mini-14.

...and here's a unique sheath for a #15 that Greg made to my design--the idea is to quickly snap it on and remove without having to unbuckle or thread my belt through. (The snaps are special heavy-duty ones that only open from one side, preventing accidental opening.)

I'm lucky enough to have an order up for defining.
Spoke with Greg today.
It's comforting to know just how good the Sullivan's are at what they do!!
Sometimes it takes a thread like this to wake you up!!
The quality is amazing!! and the selection is limitless, I think that Greg could make anything you could think of.
I've got a #19, and a #2, or #7 to send him. He is also going to make a sheath for my "Sun Valley Patrol", so that limits me on the others.
I'd be glad to hear some thoughts for the 19, 2, or 7. All are ivory/fosil with sliver.

I was at Greg's shop today and also at the Randall shop. Greg has a new hi-ride he is offering. I'll post it up as soon as I get a chance...I can probably dig around and find a few "others" to post as well.
Best, Capt. Chris

These sheaths are not for sale. I had told a couple of folks I would post photos of some of my exotic / special built Sullivan's sheaths. I have not gotten around to the "specials", i.e. non-exotic types yet.
Best, Capt. Chris

Here's one I picked up from Greg (for a customer) on Monday...

Here are eleven sheaths for my original RBS. Ten are Greg's and one is a (Johnny) Johnson smooth back. Each one represents a different variation of my RBS sheath.

Ronnie I think the answer to your question was covered in the Blade Show meeting post and pictures. Greg is trying to teach his daughter the art. You can slap me if I am wrong but Greg told me this himself.

It's not just "passing it on". Time, man..."time". Getting the time to make this cool stuff when you have all of those Randall sheaths to get out ain't easy! Becky is doing a good job when she is there. Chris and Danny have their hands full with the standard orders. I have no doubt that everyone there at Sullivan's "can" do the work. It's finding the time "to" do the work....and I can understand not wanting more people also.
Best, Capt. Chris
