Rod,

Beautiful detail and finish on your buckle. I like it! There were some great brass buckles made in the 70s. Thanks for the photos.

If a person COULD buy a S&W these days I would consider it.

Tom
Thank you. I will search the net and find a brother for the one I have.

Thanks for the pix, Rod - beautiful Dowells! I like that Wharncliff Trapper a lot. Pure and straight with the shadow construction but elegant nevertheless. smile
I'm trying to convince him to build me one, too but he is very busy.

Rod, that' a very nice belt buckle you have. With the original Bianchi holster a S&W 6060 Folding Hunter would go nicely with the buckle. It was made in the seventies, too.

That's really a great looking folder. How big is it as compared to, say, a Buck 110?

Pat, it's a rather large knife. At 4.5" closed it's a tad shorter than the Buck 110 (4-7/8"). The blade is 3½ inches long, overall length open is 8 inches. The blade pivots on a full 3/16” diameter pin so it's quite a handful.
I was told that it was part of the "Sportsmen's Series" when S&W decided to build a range of bench-crafted quality knives in the seventies. Design by Blacky Collins, built by Mac Lyle for S&W. These knives were produced in different models including the Bowie (Model 6010), Skinner (Model 6070), Outdoorsman (Model 6020), Survival (Model 6030), Folding Hunter (Model 6060), Fisherman (Model 6050) and the Fisherman-Fillet (Model 6040).

Got this two bladed Bret Dowell folder from a fourmite. I am really happy with the knife. It is a prototype Dowell.

I have a baker's dozen Dowell's and another on its way later this fall. IMO he makes an excellent knife for the price. I carry one everyday.
