Pappy,
I bet the '94 will do just fine with that ammo.

Let us know how the range session works.

I just brought out my Ruger New Model BearCat that I purchased about ten years ago.

The latest issue of GUNS Magazine has a nice article about the BearCats and it rekindled my interest.

Also made mention about smokejumpers using them.

Now,how did I know that??

Wayne

5.56 are a bit longer case. I think it is .100 or so. 5.56 is loaded a bit hotter, due to the longer case ie) a bit more powder.
Shooting a .223 in a 5.56 shouldn’t be a problem, but the other way around, you might have pressure problems. At least you will have higher pressure shooting a 5.56 in a .223

Rod,
thanks...I got that....I'm interested why the labels on the box are different, while the guns inside the box, with the exception of "furniture" appear to be the same, and all marked 5.56 NATO...once again, while some of the labels on the box read .223

I understand now. Would it be worth a phone call to the manufacturer?

Rocky,
5.56 interprets to "any of the ammo" so no need to stamp 223 Rem. I would venture to say all chambers are 5.56 compatable. Perhaps labeled boxes with 5.56mm have military hardware???
Just a guess,
Capt. Chris

The 223 have a shorter leade than a 5.56 which is another reason NOT to shoot the higher pressure 5.56 in a 223 chamber!
