One more question. When specifying the Teardrop handle shape, at least for models for which this handle shape can be specified, is it a chargeable option? If so, what is the current charge?

Thanks...

Ken...and others:

Great questions. I expected nothing less. I apologize for not answering sooner (or being on the forums at all) but I've been fighting a very nasty virus (on my second Z-pack).
When ordering a B-25 or N-25 handle (Model #25 handle...leather/stag/leather...with either brass or nickel silver & alumin hardware) there is "no upcharge" to replace the stag centerpiece with any "shop-supplied" handle material. For example: Maple instead of stag. If, on the other hand, you wish to use "CW" (customer-supplied material) the upcharge is $20.00. Rule of thumb would be: If the Randall knife comes standard with "stag" then any replacement of that stag with something else will fall under this rule. To the best of my knowledge there are no exceptions.
Please remember that this "only" means the center when referring to the #25 styled handle. You cannot substitute the "3-piece" configuration with a "one piece, full length, piece of handle material.

"Teardrop" shaped handles are available on Randall models with blade lengths 6" and "less". There is no upcharge for this fine handle shape. In my opion (and that's all it is) folks should be careful when ordering this handle option as it may not look or work great of all models. Just as a "for instance" I have seen it on a Model #11-3 1/4" and (for me) it made the handle too long for the blade length.

"Butt caps" on a "teardrop" are limited to brass or duralumin and "not" nickel silver. "Collars" are still doable with a teardrop. Hope this helps...and, again, sorry for the delayed response. (Now I'm gonna go take another handful of pills and feel sorry for myself)...
Best, Capt. Chris

Below are a couple of examples of teardrop handles done right! A matching pair of "Stanaback Specials" and a pair of "Pathfinders" that we built on the hunting forums...CCS

Great information, Captain! But Ken, why would someone pay good money to have stag, the best of all handle materials, removed and then substitue a lesser material??? That's like ordering a new Harley and requesting a Honda engine. (No disrespect to Honda owners intended)

My dad would completely agree with you. Of the half-dozen Randalls he currently owns, all of them have Stag handles.

<dipping my toes into the water>

I looked and looked through the rest of this thread and couldn't find a reply to this question. In a post dating back to June of '07, the answer was $55.00 for this option. However, it is not mentioned in the current price list, eagerly received by me a couple days ago.

This is rapidly becoming more than just an intellectual curiosity....

There is no charge for the option of a #25 handle on a Model #27-5 3/4", "Trailblazer". For the Model #26-4", "Pathfinder" or the #12-9" the additional charges are $60.00. It does not matter if the metal is brass or nickel silver and alum. The charges are the same. Hope this helps...amd welcome to the forums!
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: The wrist thong on this "Pathfinder" would run an additional $15.00 but the rounded butt cap is "N/C"...CCS

Rick,

My understanding is that the #25 Handle is currently a $60 option (it counts as one chargeable option) for the #26 and #12-9", and non-chargeable for the #27. For both, you, can specify Brass or Nickel Silver as the spacer metal.

(Edited to add that Chris answered the question at the same time, and that our answers seem to agree. My post was thus not necessary.)
