Rod, if you are that "dissapointed" I'll trade you my old 5-6 with black micarta handle that's a lot better looking than your old "fossil ivory" handle. All joking aside, nice looking knife ya got there.

I ordered this #5-6" on 06/09/2004, and it arrived last Monday. The hilt is nickel silver, and there is etching on the blade.

Thats a dead sexy model 5 Ken! Is that going to be a user?

Dan

Thank you for your "kind" offer. But I will keep the fossil ivory 5. Until I see it in person and get to handle it, I will reserve judgement.
I really like fossil ivory. The piece on this knife had no "bark", so I knew what I was getting. Alot of fossil ivory can not be "judged" until you get the bark off. I had two pieces, with bark on, bought at the same time, put on knives. One piece turned out excellent, the other so-so.
I am still on the look out for a superb piece.

Looks more like a rosewood of some type to me...either Brazilian, Cocobola or perhaps Indian...Best, Capt. Chris...and, yes: BH(RDH)
