I'd think if you were going to do that, make them out of poster board. Preferably the "non-acidic" kind if you can identify such.

The problem with plastic-like materials is that they won't wick away any errant moisture that may possibly appear due to temperature fluctuations. Even worse, they will pin it directly on the blade at the point of contact.
Sure, climate controlled environment and all that, I know. I also understand that they still break down now-and-again.
