Thanks Steve.
That first one is the 3rd Randall I acquired, in the 1980s.

Model #1's !!!!!!!

Great knives everyone.

Here is a cool one.... It's a mid 50's with a 7" blade, nickel silver hilt, aluminum butt cap....and finger grip ivory.

As with 99% of all old ivory...it has a couple of checks.

The sheath is a transitional Heiser as they were moving away from the early 50's wide stone flap. It still has the horizontal keeper strap. Notice the odd snap on the keeper. During the mid 50's there was a shortage of brown button snaps. You will see several variants of metal snaps, as well as mixed snaps like this one. The keepers were set at the shop, not at Heiser.

Here is another old ivory.... late 40's, with an 8" blade. Nickel silver hilt, aluminum butt cap. Notice the difference in the choils. During the 40's the choils were not nearly as "fish hook" shaped. In the early 50's they really became deep and hooked.....up until the early 60's where they returned to a shape more like the 40's.

It's in a riveted Heiser with translucent snaps. The translucents were introduced in the late 40's but (as I understand it) were not very durable and were replaced by brown buttons.

You'll see translucent more often on field knives and Bowies since fighters were in low demand between WW2 and Korea.

These two knives show the difference in the width of the stone pouch flap between the late 40's and the mid 50's. They continued to get more narrow, and the keeper strap went to a diagonal.

If you are bored, you can see some examples in my 50's album.
