There he goes again!

Flag! Look at the Sheath Type, Stone Pocket Shape and Size, and Stone Type...

I did. Now that we got that out of the way, the knife could easily have been made prior to "late '43" as you claim. I wasn't saying it couldn't be later 1943, just wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Big deal, your estimation is wrong...

Reaaaally. Please expound o' wise one, I am all ears. I think most would like to hear your expert opinion on this subject.

Sure, a Mid 1943 Fighter – again, look at the differences in sheath, spacers, stone pocket type, etc...

Whew, thanks for the heads up. It is all so clear now. I better reexamine my knife. I don't know where I was going with this post! So many knives and so much confusion. The horror.

Great thread, too bad childish behavior's spoiling it.

Very discouraging to newbie collectors.

Hi Whiteknife,

Think of it as driving down a scenic highway and seeing a litter can knocked over at a rest stop: Just keep your eyes straight ahead and enjoy the good stuff

Best,

Ron

Nobody likes to be the one proven wrong, especially if you believe you are correct. But passionate discussions like this give newbies like you & I access to knowledge that we otherwise would be without. Believe it or not sometimes when they debate things you will be the one to benefit. Ever watch one of the guys here who knows what he's talking about tell some one who just posted a picture about his knife & wants to be enlightened? It's like talking to a Doctor, sometimes what & how they say it sends ya off with more questions than when ya started! My point is that they get more detailed with each other than when it's just one of them. JMO

Hey Y'all,
I'm new here and I read a lot more than I post. I enjoy seeing all the Randalls both old and new but I'm confused. It seems to me that there is a lot of guessing going on about when something was made. I get ever more flummoxed when the disagreement deals with a difference of say 6 months on a knife that's 65 years old.
I truly don't see how it makes a tinker's damn anyway. I'm not trying to fuel the feud and I'm not taking sides (though I do have an opinion), I'm just wondering.

Cutup,

We have a little urination contest going on between two very knowledgable members. I learn from both of them.

They have such a vast knowledge on the subject that to them the 6 months makes a difference, to me or you it seems like splitting hairs, but both are trying to be as correct as possible in the dating of the Randall knife.
