I carry this knife frequently.....natural linen micarta/swayback. Thin and light....disappears in my pocket. Have another on order-hoping for a multi blade with coffin shape handle. Big fan of this maker.

I am a BIG fan of Bret's knives. He has been making me a knife a year for the past few years. Still working on this years knife design.

2nd pic, 2 years ago knife.
3rd pic, perhaps my favorite
4th pic, family pic

Peter,

I LIKE that micarta. It's different and unusual.
Was the knife supplied with the blade looking like it does, or has continued use helped it develop the patina look it has to it?
Very nice !!

Michael, the blade is made of A2 (like Chris Reeve's OPR). I like it a lot because it gets super sharp but it would rust extremely fast so Bret had etched it. It was more of a uniform grey when I got it - the rest is "everyday use" smile

Great looking knife. I assume because it was/is a prototype (0 Marking) you got it from someone other than Bret.

Hope you like it, if you don't you have my email address, ha ha.

I continue to buy Bret Dowell knives, both from Bret and after market. I honestly think (not that I have a PhD in folding knives) he makes a great knife for the price.
Here is an updated photo of my collection:
