I'll move this question to this thread because I would like to know the answer.

I've always thought this one was awesome, how close can we get to it now? (Minus Scrim of course)

I can see going with Ivorite Micarta, Crow's Beak Aluminum Butt Cap, Double Nickel Silver Hilt, Aluminum/Black Spacers.

How many options is that Capt.?

Can we add Stainless Steel Blade, or do we have to use O1?

I think the knife cannot be made. To me, at least, the handle "shape" (cool or not) does not look like anything I have seen coming out of the shop. Not saying it didn't...I've just never seen it and it certainly is non-comforming by standard shaped handles. A #22 styled handle shape would be the closest. Perhaps someone ordered the #22 handle "without" the crow's beak butt cap. The hardware looks like fine silver as well. Do you have the specs? It's only a 5-option knife...just "different". Where did you see it?

It's in the first #12 "Knife of the Week" thread on page 5.

So, Stainless, Ivorite Micarta, Crow's Beak Aluminum Butt Cap, Double Nickel Silver Hilt, Aluminum/Black Spacers is do-able?

I might like to order that combo eventually so I wanted to know. I know it will not be "the same", but it might still look cool.

It is, indeed, "doable".

To a closest look blade is marked L as Lechorn…sorry for the spelling…if wrong.
So handle and scrimshaw should have being made by the same Master….

That would explain it Guido. Tom was allowed to buy blank blades and work them as he saw fit. Silver, ivory and a thinner, more contoured, handle were trademarks of Tom Leschorn.

Here is the description of the Randall/Leschorn Model 12-6 knife:

6" stainless steel blade, Nickel silver double hilt, nickel silver/black spacers, laminated ebony/ivory handle scrimshawed after Tom's death by his daughter Lisa Leschorn. The only thing Randall about this knife is probably the blade.

I would even debate the spacers and hilt. Look at the "thickness" of the spacers, as opposed to RMK's. Of course, who knows "who" provided the spacers...but they look like fine silver, i.e. exact match to the hilt. A better (more close-up) photo would help. Thanks Jim.
Best, Capt. Chris
