I couldn't resist purchasing this block.....I"ve looked around but haven't been able to find anything like it. Since it's not officially Westinghouse material, was $80 too much to pay (not sure what you mean by it being a $30/$35 hanlde?).
What you bought was "Linen Miacrta" that may or may not have been made for Westinghouse. The micarta that Randall used years ago was "Paper Micarta". It does look very similar but, is not the same material.
It will still make a very nice handle. I also think that you paid a hefty price for it. I read the fellers write up on the block and he indicated it was like the shops "Antique Gold" which is a moderately close description.

Quote: Well shoot....I was thinking it was a little more rare and that the price was in-line! Oh well, maybe there's a diamond imbedded in the center !
Doug,
To paraphrase another saying, don't buy the handle, buy the seller. Though to give him his due, he wrote a very good description.

Doug, Look: Ya' paid too much money for a piece of handle material...Big deal, Doug! Order a "way-cool" knife from a dealer, if you don't want to wait the normal amount of time. By the time your regular order would come out from the Randall shop, you'll had made up the difference, in time and money...AND...Have the knife you want! You didn't buy the materail to re-sell it did you? You bought it to install on a Randall knife. Get on with it... Best, Capt. Chris
