Yes, very nice photos. Actually caused me to go online just now and buy one of the current versions. Looks to have pretty much the same specs as the original version but I don't know enough about them to really know if that's the case. I'll have to keep a lookout now for one of the earlier/original ones like yours. Thanks.

Feel free to post a photo of your new 124 in this thread. Would love to see it and hear your impressions.

Just arrived in the mail today and I really like it. Fit and finish are very good and it shaves hair right out of the box. Good feel in the hand and good balance. Very solid full tang knife that looks like it can handle most anything. Definitely not a knife for a girlie man. ;-) I'll see what I can do in terms of posting a picture but I suck at knife photography.

Glad to hear you're happy with it, Jim. Every time I pick up my knife, it is still a thrill. It's just a great design and beautifully made.

There was a guy on the Buck Forum that bought a new 124 and replaced the Micarta with wood scales. After he removed the Micarta scales, it was discovered that Buck takes the extra step of silver soldering the guard to the tang. Pretty rare detail for a production knife. Here are some photos.









Pins are aluminum to match the rest of the hardware.

Unusual. He used different types of wood on each side. One of the scales wasn't thick enough, so he added one blue liner to that side. It was his first re-handle job and he did it with basic household tools and sandpaper. Here is it.
