I doubt if 99% of the "seasoned outdoors folks" will ever kill a Bear or a Moose, or live in a personally built log cabin on the Peace River in the ACTUAL WILDERNESS Joe. Those days are long gone.

That's probably true,....but lots of folks do primitive wood skills as a "hobby", and simply enjoy being outdoors in the woods practicing some of the skills that were once essential if you wanted to survive. There is a certain satisfaction in visiting our roots, in a small way.
Many of these skills may come in handy also in an emergency situation,....say were you to get lost on a day hunting trip and your vehicle breaks down in a more remote area, or the weather takes a drastic and unexpected change and you weren't prepared for it..
