Bill,
Interestingly, I have been contacted on 4 separate occasions by forum members, wanting to know why you are calling me out. I guess I will have to respond...just to set the record straight. Your recollection of this transaction is false. I will provide the actual conditions of this order.
* #2-7" was ordered with white pine cone
* The Randall shop rejected the pine cone
* I submitted a piece of stabilized bubinga to be used as a substitute for the rejected pine cone
* During the processing of my October, 2016 order (The order with this knife on it) the Randall shop got (2) #2-7" orders that I had due out on this order mixed up. I had a "standard" #2-7" ordered, i.e. carbon steel, leather, etc. The shop completed this order with the stainless blade which was supposed to be used for the bubinga knife (your knife Bill).
* At the Gator show, on Friday Jan. 29th, I showed this knife to you and explained what happened.
* Bill: You stated that you liked the knife but didn't have the $$ to pick it up.
* Saturday, Jan. 30th, you were not to be found at the show
* Sunday, Jan. 31st, I asked you "again" how you wanted to handle the knife. You stated that you "didn't even know what the balance was". I gave you the balance due total and you, once again, said you did not have the funds with you.
* Never was there any mention to me, Bill, of the knife being:
* Too light
* Needing a butt cap, etc.
* After the Gator show had concluded and 10 days passed, I posted the knife to my website for sale..at 2015 catalog price, without the additional charges of my CW (Bubinga).
* The knife sold shortly afterwards
That is what really happened Bill. I offered to refund your deposit at the Gator show, trying to put money "in" your pocket, rather than take it out.
The bottom line is that this is not the knife you ordered (nor I) and I will be glad to:
* Refund your deposit
* Credit your deposit toward the #12-9", N-25 (NASA) knife you have ordered.
It is your call Bill. I have lost $$$ on, not one...but "2" pieces of CW during this build. I don't want you to lose a dime.
Best, Capt. Chris
