Sam, Have you actually ever read any of Bradford's books?

Sounds like you have not.

Well, I can count 2 of the 3, and did pitch a tent on the Peace River a few times.
And we do have a room called the "bear den".

That's probably true,....but lots of folks do primitive wood skills as a "hobby", and simply enjoy being outdoors in the woods practicing some of the skills that were once essential if you wanted to survive. There is a certain satisfaction in visiting our roots, in a small way. laugh

Many of these skills may come in handy also in an emergency situation,....say were you to get lost on a day hunting trip and your vehicle breaks down in a more remote area, or the weather takes a drastic and unexpected change and you weren't prepared for it..

Totally agree with that philosophy. Survival skills, are never really out of data. Paying attention to your surroundings in the city is never a bad thing either. I see a lot of people walking around in a daze that makes Perps life very easy. Awareness, be in on the Peace River or on the Subway in NYC.

Since the W. A. C. Bennett Dam was built I doubt if a lot of the things Bradford Angier dealt with on the Peace River are the same.

Hey Tom,

The dam is a bugger for sure. But the Peace is still a pretty wild river. Grizzlies and wolves still walk the shore. The area along it is fantastic still for bear, deer, and moose. Grayling and walleye fishing can be good.

Cheers,

My dad loved fly fishing too! There were whole summers his foam lined "unsinkable" canoe would sit on top of his SUV,.....and he'd take frequent trips out to Saratoga Lake in New York to fly fish.

He'd stand right up in that thing and cast for HOURS! lol

I think the canoe was an "Old PAL" model, or something like that? It had full camo paint on the side walls,......so the fish could't see him coming! laugh
