I also wear everything, regardless of the law))
Many use large knives ~ 18-25 cm blade,
example

The only problem at customs. Knife may be detained at the border and seized. Other problems besides customs not exists.
I can safely send over the border #17 Astro in disassembled form (unscrewed the handle) and it will not be a problem.

David, I mean Eastern Hemisphere, but not a specific point on the map,
If a particular point, I'm somewhere in Canada smile

I recently started doing home repairs - replacement of electrical
wiring, new flooring, new wallpaper and other.

I used in past ordinary knives - stationery-type knife, a shoe knife,
and, of course, Mora and Hultafors smile

This time I decided to use only Randall and I took my #8-4.

In the process, I realized that disregarded the advice of friends
on this forum, unfortunately. Brass butt cap too very shifts
balance to the backside of handle, when the knife small.
To buy new Randall with suitable configuration I have no way in
currently.

So I'm a little cut butt cap.
It turned out that inside there is a small cavity for fastening
technology and I got a fun hole ))
Balance has become more enjoyable.

Further, when I pasted wallpaper, and trimmed the excess
with a knife (my hands were stained glued, very slippery),
several times I dropped the knife with a 3 meter height.

Then I decided to add a notch finger on handle.
I made them inclined on both sides, so they were perfect
for my right and left hand (I work hands equally).

As a result, you can see what I got))

I think this is not the end, even though the balance is good,
but I want to shift it a little forward
+ my homemade work over the handle looks ugly
although very convenient.

I'm going in the future to send the knife to the master, which will
make a new handle, something like Ward Gay handle on #20
(I am sorry if misspelled name)

In my work # 8-4 showed himself very well smile
Now I think Mora knives and others will now be in the toolbox in the far corner of the garage, perhaps forever.

all tell me how much they like it or ask where I got it or how much was it. none of the you can't have that BS here.

Of course wearing a big knife on your hip in public might get you some attention.

My son, a pilot, carries a folding knife in a pouch on his belt everywhere he goes. It has a 1/2 serrated blade and 1/2 plain blade. LEOs have asked (in conversation) about the knife and my son calls it his "PET". (PILOT EXTRACTION TOOL) and he has never been given any flak about wearing the thing in public. He and his students have had experiences where the plane came down quickly without power. You get the point.

Kinda like the Instructor in California? The student said all but one car stopped so they could land.

There will usually be at least one person who is not aware of what is going on around him who will cause more damage in an emergency situation.

Planes fall (glide) down from the sky much more often that most would believe.

"Dead Stick" training (hope I got that right) is a part of every training flight my son gives students. It has saved a few over the years.

Perhaps it's more convenient for him.

It depends, do you think he wants a large or a small knife. Also, does he want one that closes or does he want a fixed blade. If you want a great fixed blade--look at the SOG Team Leader. If you want a smaller automatic knife that closes and opens look at any of the SOG-Tac knives. I included a good link where I have bought knives in the past. You can do some good research there.

It depends on market conditions smile
When the dominance of a single design on the market, you want something else. We have very much the high-tech knives and classic at the same time. Often design faceless or terrible. It is sometimes bothers.
Here are a couple of examples.
Every time I see Randall knives, I like them. I have some ideas to improve the design, as in the next branch about the shape of the shank or slightly change some of the elements to fit my needs. But this small little details, generally design is gorgeous. Very good proportions (although, rare, in the recruitment of some of the options, it turns Frankenstein)
