Stag
Aluminum Spacers
NS1
Butt Cap
Wrist Thong
Stainless

and I would guess possibly the #6 grind, if that's considered an option...

and yes when we do options Thumb Notches make a world of sense!

Thumb notches make a world of sense on any outdoor knife as far as I'm concerned.

Capt's knife, minus the butt cap, with a gnarly piece of stag and a compass might do the trick

It really should be a standard on a Model 7 since it is made for small game and fish. I personally like the squared off hilt as well.

I haven't heard anyone suggest a steak knife with some options. 7-5 #6 grind, reduced N/S hilt, maybe a SFG handle. I never had a fishing knife with an extended guard. It makes sense since to me it would just be in the way. The SFG handle would calm any worries of the knife slipping out of your hand.

Nothing with finger grips as it might go to a lefty. Unless the knife is built after the contest ends and there is a winner who gets to chose the finger grips.

I agree Pappy, the model #7 would be right one, with the bells and whistles, and maybe, just maybe sharpen the top edge. grin

Sidney,

The SFG is right or left handed. I think it's the perfect choice for a slippery knife.

Steak knives are 4 1/2" Warren...not 5.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: This is real RMK steak knife from a set. I liked it so much that I had this one altered and sold the set of 6, instead of 8! (The 7th went to a buddy). I added the following:
* Thumb notches
* Finger grips
* Wrist thong
* Compass
* Custom Ostrich black sheath
* Disclaimer: This was long before a 5 option limit was in place and the shop was only a year out on deliveries.

That came out great Cap. Yes my bad on the 5". I have a steak knife here and was looking at it yesterday. It's not a bad one to consider. The pouch sheath would work but not available.

Very nice Cap and xcept for the reduced hilt, it would work for a small fish knife. I had a very bad experience with a SOB(some other brand) with a slippery filet knife and a bad cut due to no extended hilt.

So again, I ask if we are looking at a big fish or little fish knife to start?
