Handle Material has more people wanting Micarta than leather. If we stick with that path, Nickel silver is out, as we would be over 5 options.

With only one more option, to me you can't go leather. It's too bad we chose thumb notches over a nickel hilt. Fine for fresh water, not good for salt water or low maintenance. Just my .03

I agree with Warren and Billy, this would be a way kewler knife with NS1 and Micarta. However Capt. Called 4 the vote a day said it would count. .. both Thumb notches and Wrist thong got voted in... ...

All you are gonna clean with it is freshwater mostly, and not all of those.
Before ya'll get all defrosted I'm not dissing the build,
you just can't make a knife that will clean everything efficiently.
If you fish for larger saltwater fish this isn't your knife!
There are a lot of fishermen that are building this build & a lot of collectors,
the 2 groups aren't gonna make the same choices.

Please explain to me how a nickel hilt will be much lower maintenance than brass?? I don't fish in saltwater, but almost every fly reel I own is designed for it. The maintenance procedures recommended after saltwater use are far from my definition of low maintenance.

Likewise, all my knives are well taken care of after every outing. Some might call it OCD, but my knives are cleaned and oiled every time I take one out, whether it gets put to work out not. Might just be a simple wipe down with a dry towel, or soap and water if used and dirty.

Who takes a high end knife and throws it in a drawer after being out and about using it??

Exactly, and that's why to me a leather handle isn't a show stopper. I think a NS hilt, leather handle, duraluminum with the wrist thong, would be a good user or a safe queen. It would have 5 options not common. On the other hand I have no problem with the stock brass hilt and a micarta handle either.
