Captain,

If a Model 2 is ordered with a Micarta handle, would the shape remain commando, or would commando become an option? I plan on ordering a #2, fwd curved brass hilt, brass collar, smooth brass coolie, wrist thong, black micarta on Monday. But don't want to lose the commando shape.

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Josh:
All Model #2's come with a commando-shaped handle..."Standard", regardless of the material...The only exception being stag.
Best, Capt. Chris

When a service member orders one of the few Randall Made Knives available on short notice while deployed in a war zone about what is the turn around time after the order has been received?

I am asking this for one such warrior currently serving in Iraq..

Tom, in the interest of getting you a quick (albeit possibly wrong) answer, the last I heard it was about six weeks. Although I'm sure there are people here who are much more "in the know" than I am.

Last time I checked it was 12 weeks. There are only 4 models to choose from.

Captain,
is it possible to order a 4" Gambler or a Cattleman with a butt cap, or the tangs are too short to fit that option?
Thank you in advance.

Yes: Butt caps are available. Here's a couple of my personal Small Gamblers.

The elephant ivory small gambler has a duralumin butt cap. The shape of this butt cap is quite unique.
Best, Capt. Chris
P.S. You can see the tang from this photo, even though it is not a great pic...CCS

For comparison...The "Trademark" side of both small gamblers. One is elephant ivory with shop-supplied nickel silver, aluminum and black spacers and a duralumin butt cap. The "other" one is fossil walrus with fine silver fittings.
Best, Capt. Chris
