Mike

I echo Peter K's comments about minerals and electrolytes and cramps, as I cycle about 5 days a week and know what happens when I don't re-hydrate.
Keep the faith and know we are all with you both in spirit. She needs you to be strong as much as you need to see her improvements.
Reading to her is a great idea. Bless you both.

Mike,
Prayers & blessings are requested for you & Lu every day & more than once.
This healing & rehabbing is sooo....slow. As you know I've been on my own slow
journey....just over 8 mos. out now from the 8" slit up my spine.....& other minor stuff. BUT, it was the significant AND dangerous drop in my potassium levels that
caused the awful cramps....day & night; & in the calf, quads, hamstrings & triceps.
Almost always more than 1 muscle at a time.....& when could very barely walk.
Took prescript. sup. daily for weeks (months?) before the level got back up to
normal.
But didn't have "the big one"...& our GOD is good.
We all have to monitor so much with med. care now.
Peace to you both....& healing for Lu, my friend.

Duke

Friday update for Lucille August 5. A lot has happened this past week. The good things are she just had her trachea removed this morning. She is trying to talk more each day. No lung issues and her mobility continues to improve but she is still not able to sit on her own or move around the bed. She has not passed her swallow test with ice chips. She is still having horrendous leg cramps. Doctors say it a brain stimulus, not an electrolyte issue. They are giving her gabapentin and norco which does inhibit the cramps but also puts her to sleep. Not good for her PT and muscle toning. She was moved from the ICU yesterday, but this new room doesn't come with the same care. She isn't able to press the help button. So there are some things that still need to get worked out, but we are PTL for all her improvement. Please continue to pray for no more cramps or infections. Many thanks again for your prayers and continued support.

Mike,

I am just seeing this for the first time. Please know that you and Lucille will be in my thoughts and prayers. It seems like the ups and downs are mostly up, although the days have been and can be quite difficult. I am sure you are counting your blessings every day and you are grateful for every day you have, no matter how difficult. Hang in there. You will be rewarded.

All the best,

Lucille update Saturday 8/13. It's been an up and down week. The beginning of the week, Lucille was having very bad leg spasms and pain. Doctors tried various remedies without success. Yesterday a specialist in spasms was consulted and a new drug introduced. The short term results are good, so we are praying for continued success that she won't get these spasms again and will move forward with PT and speech therapy. Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. God is great!
