Joe,
There have been several questions and "what-ifs" posted by you. Judging by your re-vamped Randalls, I would take you for the kind of guy that, no matter what catalog options are available, you would want something else.
Neal is correct. The answer is, once again, no to your modification changes.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris
PS: Can't wait to see how your Model #10 turns out. Be sure to show us some pics!

Captain -- Back to the red & blue micarta, is this a chargeable option on a knife that comes standard with a micarta handle like a Model 10, 14, 22, etc.? That is, if I wanted a 10-5, for example, with a red & blue micarta handle would that cost more than a 10-5 with black micarta? Thanks.

RBM is not available on either a #10 or #14. #22 is doable and I think it is an additional $10, verses black micarta.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

You're probably right there CC :-)

However, as someone who I know has handled MANY Model 10-3's with all the various blade and handle changes over the years, have you noticed any one "era's" production that tended to produce an average thicker stock handle?

.....I only have my recent vintage to go by, and I'm not sure if even there some examples are noticeable thicker than others?

If or when I make a handle change on mine, I'll be sure to post the pics. laugh

cheers,
Joe T

All Randall models, from forging to forging, have the possibility to be slightly different. My most recent Model #10-5" appears to be smaller than my last. The scales are more "rounded". #10's are not forged and stay more consistant than other models. I had 2 pieces of handle material rejected, this past month alone. due to being over-sized.
The shop is quite specific on material and sizing allowed for each and every model. You won't notice very much of change...just slight change.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Capt. Chris--

A couple of thoughts...

On a slab handle knife like the Model 10 which involves a pouch sheath (i.e., RMK's "cover sheath"), I would think that any handle that is too thick for the standardized sheath would pose a problem.

For a maker who makes each sheath to fit on a specific knife that would not be a problem, but for those who make a standard knife and make their sheaths independently of the individual knife--probably couldn't get a thicker handle into the sheath.

True Larry..."BUT"...the example (recent) that I am referring to had more rounded slabs. It fit the sheath well...perhaps ever so slightly looser than standard. The overall "thickness" remained the same, it was just less proud, tapering to the tang.
Best, Capt. Chris

Two quick questions? Price of optional brass and colored or aluminum and colored spacers? Cost of polishing if you order a stag handle knife? TIA.

$ 20.00 for either
Aluminum & black or aluminum & red spacers
or
Brass & black or brass & red spacers.

Not clear what you're asking about charge for polishing stag.
If you mean removing the "bark" off the stag to create "bald stag", its available on only one model.

If you mean polishing the stag to a "gleaming" condition, Captain Chris will have to answer that.

Hope this helps.

"Polished stag", or dressed down stag is still available in model 25 handles only.
