Capt.,
Thinking of ordering a "Cattleman" for work (electrician). Wondering what options are avaliable for this model. I am aware of stainless and "slab sides", but I'm unsure of options like thong and fingergrips. "Knife of the Week" thread is not very helpful. Those of you with pics should post them!

[....] You can order a #26 with a 3-piece "Trapper-style" handle and it will be more straight.
Thanks for your answer, i think i will go with the Trapper-style handle.
Just one question,
The #25 Trapper has a "ribbing/riffle" on the back, does the #26-4" Pathfinder have this, too? Or do i need to add that as a option?

I am going to place an order for a Model 12-6" Little Bear Bowie. I like the look of the forward curved double hilt (in Nickel/Silver). I wonder if the double hilt or the forward curved double hilt is too big for a 6" blade. I have seen some excellent knives in pictures, but I can't tell if they are 8" blades or the 6". Any thoughts about whether the forward curved double hilt is too big, heavy, or unwieldy for a 12-6"?
Also, the catalog states the Little Bear Bowie comes with thumb notches. The same is not mentioned for the Sportsman’s Bowie- do you have to pay extra for the thumb notches with the Sportsman's Bowie?

Rob, The attached photo is that of a Little Bear Bowie with 6" Blade and Model #22 handle. Personally I don't believe the FC Double Hilt is too big, heavy or unwieldy for this knife but that is just my opinion. I guess it depends on whether your knife is going to be a user and if so for what general purpose.

Tom, When I wrote, " I have seen some excellent knives in pictures, but I can't tell if they are 8" blades or the 6" blade", your's was one of the pictures I was referring to. I saw it under the knife of the week for model 12, and I think it is a beauty. If only I could get that handle!
Thanks for the information, based on this, I am leaning towards the FC double hilt.

Rob, The craftsmen (I like to think of them as artisans) at the Randall shop scale the guard to the knife. Here is a FCH on with a 5" blade. I think it looks marvelous!

Tom, You are so correct about the craftsman at the shop keeping everything in proportion and Yes I think of them as artisans as well. That's a beauty. Seems you are on a roll lately. Rob, You can get the Model #22 Handle just not the AGM Micarta unless you supply it yourself. If I were going to order one right now I would strongly consider the Maroon Micarta.
