Hey gang, I have really been eyeing the maroon micarta and wanting to order a 14 with it but the catalog says I cannot do it. Is there a reason for this? Is the material not strong enough to withstand the milling for the channel?
Could I buy the material (If I could find some) and send it to them in the date of production?
Also are green and black micarta the canvas types?

Any of the micartas, G-3 or G-10 phenolics are "plenty" strong enough. The reason for the Randall shop to only offer green or black micarta is that the material has to be sent out to an outside source (sub-contractor) to be sized and, in particularly, "slotted". You can supply your maroon micarta to the shop, but it has to be already cut and slotted to their exact specs. I have several pieces at the shop at this writing to be done. Jim Behring (Treeman Knives) has some sort of brown canvas and green tenite micartas for sale on his website. They are already prepped for Randalls...ready to go! Hope this helps. Best, Capt. Chris

No hone sheath option (NHS) needs to be specified...and it "is" an option..."BUT"...(There's that word again)...it is not a "chargeable" option and does not impede the 5 options available on the Randall knife itself. Best, Capt. Chris
