I don't know what blade length Bob's example of The Mission is...but it looks about right for my tastes.

Another point of curiosity as we're new to this- would you gentleman prefer that we only make ONE of these, or should the design be open to unlimited orders?

I'll answer before "The gentlemen" get a chance. If you build one you should be open to more orders. I think everyone's just glad you guys are doing this. If somebody wants this knife, once it is decided...and they "don't" get their number picked, they could still obtain one. Besides: You could always alter the spacer pattern or something to where it's a tad unique without losing sales...just sayin'

Also James' idea of special etching could make it unique for the first 1.

This bad boy is 7" - just to throw mud in perfectly brown water...
This one is a bit larger

The mission that I posted (single hilt with musk ox and horsehide #25 style handle) has a 6" blade (slightly smaller than the 7" Mission that Gerry posted above).

I wholeheartedly agree with the Capt. that the "build knife" should be available for later orders, and I like the idea of a slight variation to the handle or no special etching to distinguish the 'second generation' knives from the original build knife. It's great that James and Grant have agreed to do this for us and I'd bet that some of the participants whose number is not picked for the build knife would welcome the opportunity to order it separately.

I love the BMK hammermarks, but I'm also not convinced that the skulls are the way to go.

How about a large drop point camp knife?
