Good to see you posting Justin. Welcome to the forums.

When it comes to search the forum function sucks. Here is a link to a thread with instructions on using Google search within this forum.

Great knife Justin and a great story of how you got it.
Welcome to the forums. You will get it one day.....buy the books, handle the knives, and talk to the guys that know.

According to the Wickersham TIMELINE, “Light brown ‘thin sheet’ Micarta laminate was first used on RMK knives around 1960, with the darker brown block Micarta showing up in 1964 through 1966 on the models RMK #14/15/16. Originally screwed in place and covered with ‘filled hole’ Micarta dust and epoxy, by late 1966 only epoxy was being used.”

There is a saying along the lines of "first, buy the book". Along those lines I think the Wickersham and Gaddis books are must-haves for a Randall collector or owner or just someone who wants to know more. Wickersham has more eye candy pics but still a lot of good information. Gaddis has only B/W pics but more detailed information. Prices on those books vary widely so shop around.

Edit -- Sorry, almost forgot about Mr. Tunefink's web site that has a ton of good RMK information. Here's the link: http://www.knifetalkforums.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=122768#Post122768
If that doesn't work just use the link from his post above.
