Guido,

The knife you picture in question is a Model 27. Below is a photo of a Stoddard Special Sergeant's Model. The only special I am aware they have made. There are different handle choices now. This is serial number 8 and has a sunburst briar handle. The only other handle choice on the first 100+ knives was desert ironwood.

Regards,

Rhett

Sorry Guys ! I show what I have !
OK for the Sergeant sn 065. That's OK.

27 is also etched: STODDARD'S, BOSTON USA. No sn.
Is the only 27 with thumb notches I have among many others.
Tell me...PLEASE
Thanks
Guido

Very Interesting!

A Stoddard's Randall Model 27

Naturally I was not personally aware of such a knife until you posted the picture. You are a wealth of info Guido.

Gentlemen,

When Stoddard's changed management, they opted to pursue another etching spec on several more of their knives other than the Sergeants model for a few months. Management once again changed and dropped the "new" etching all together. I believe it was just used as another advertisement for them.

I have seen a couple models with the Stoddard's name on them in the past and had no idea why. That makes sense.
