When I obtain my "new" computer, along with my retrieved data, I'll show you a Small Gambler with a butt cap Pappy. It makes a lot more sense. The tang on the cattleman may not be suitable. I'll find out...Good or Bad.

When you order a model 3 with a brass butt cap and leather handle, will it come with the brass nut exposed or will it be smooth/flush with the top of the cap? Do you have specify which way you want it? Thanks 29R

Any Randall ordered with a leather handle, i.e. a "full" leather handle, will have an exposed nut. The internal (flush)butt cap nuts are available on handles of any other material. It has to do with amount of pressure and torque needed to compress all of the leather washers, along with the fact that the exposed nut allows the handle to be re-tightened, should the allum escape or dry up from between the leather washers.
I have found a photo showing the "brass on brass" you were speaking of. Hope this helps.

I ordered a Model 11 from the shop about 5 years ago. Its time for me to send the ivory etc. Two questions : Since 5 years ago my interest has changed and I would like to change the Model 11 Ivory to a model 24 Ivory. Will the shop accept such a change and if yes will they charge me current shop price for the 24 or the 5 year ago price plus the change fee? I must do this by June as the knife is due in December. You will still pay catalog price...from the year you ordered. You can expect a $30.00 fee for the order change. Orders can be changed, but it is limited. For instance: You cannot change from a #24 to a #12-11 "Smithsonian". In your particular case there is no problem with the changes you want to implement.
Please make sure you send your handle material, sized to the proper dimensions for the "new" order. Hope this helps...
