Obviously the spell check isn't Hunter oriented. I know all of you old time hunters knew what I was referring to since the rut has passed most of us by, lol.

Rut still going hard in SWVA Pap. Driving home from 90 min. PT just now & had a really nice Buck cross the road in front of me & jump a barb-wire fence into a pasture......right behind 3 fat, sweet yearling does. I had to really lock 'em up to not nail him. AND the old boy looked back & glared at me long enough to count all 14 points on a typical, wide spread, beautifully shaped rack!! I can't remember (yet) ever seeing one (alive & on his feet) with that many points. Of course, only could get my phone on camera, pointed & snap 3 great shots of the brown blur hauling A after his haram. And this only 'bout 1&1/2 mile from my house!
I'm sure I wouldn't have held still enough for a good focus anyway. Like
I said, the rut's going strong and my head's killing me this morning.....my neck's so darn swolled' up that my shirt size has gone from 18&1/2 to 24 (like every late fall) & feel like my head's gonna explode!....:-)

The elk rut is usually the month of September, moose is after that, then deer rut in November and December. At least around my house.
