A few years ago at BLADE,I purchased from the Capt a super nice Behring pocket/sheath knife and the spacers were in the configuration of my Vietnam Ribbon.

Over time, the spacers have lost their color.

Anyone know how to restore the color, safely??

Wayne--

Maybe the color change is superficial.

Maybe try polishing with Flitz and a small section to see if it brings the color back.

And if that works, apply Ren Wax to protect it from atmospheric exposure--just in case that is the cause of the color change.

If it is due to exposure to light, maybe somebody here has some experience and can confirm it. Often ultraviolet light will cause color change.

Thank you both for the advise.
I had already tried Semichrome and the Rennaisanse wax and it brought it back, somewhat but no where near the way it was when I first had purchased it.

I sent an email to James and will see what he has to say.

That little knife is "just right" and is with me always.

The same thing happened to mine but can't recall what Grant said about it but I have never tried to clean it up.

I don't blame BMK on this happening. I have a handful of handle material that was purchased by good customers (some are on this very forum) and it was "represented" as yellow or even the "original" Westinghouse "Old Yeller". I'll shoot a quick pick of one such piece. Be careful who you buy stuff from when it comes to these type of "claims".
Caveat Emptor,
Capt. Chris
PS: This material was sold to Doug54 (I think that is his Forum Name) by KENSTYX from Ebay fame...
