Just picked this one up and would like some input and or thoughts on it. 7" SS blade, micarta handle "burgundy/brown" black face compass here's one oddity "unlined thong hole" and of course hump blade . Any thoughts?

Looks like the shop drilled that wrist thong "before" the tubing (ferrule) was used, i.e. late 1960's (or earlier perhaps). Nice knife Burnie. Did it have a sheath? Best, Capt. Chris
late 70's to early 80's. Maroon micarta, thick center spacer. My guess is the blade started life as a model 5. I do not think the thong hole was done by the shop. It would have been lined when this knife was made as Mitchel's is. Possible one slipped through, but with a "custom" blade like that, I believe everything else would have been made to current specs.
Note that Burnie's is an Orlando blade whereas Tune's and the Crider catalog knife are Solingen.

Well...as Ramking and Mike Mason can attest to, my cataract surgery went "not-as-well" as was promised and I am currently in 2 separate pair of glasses, neither of which are working well for me. I thought the knife "had" 7 spacers. If not, I would agree to 70's or earlier 1980's for the vintage. Best, Capt. Chris

Joe, if the knife is indeed late 70s to early 80s, as indicated by the spacers, what do you make of the small separate "s"?
