I ordered a Denmark about 2 years ago, nickel silver reduced hilt. No problems at that time, came right in. I'll bring it in tomorrow and post a picture of the knife.

In pictures posted of knives from the 2013 spring sale, there were several knives with handles made of what was referred to as "amber stag". Looks like what I have also seen called red stag. Is the amber stag something that is available through Randall is it something that has to be supplied by the customer? Thanks.

Jim,
The shop has some "premier" stag available at an increased cost. You would have to check with them on the particulars.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

Pictures of Randall knives from the fifties and sixties showed amber handles. It seemed to me that somehow the deer were growing their antlers in a different colour these days, amounting to almost black and white. Am I to assume that amber stag is still available, but must be specially requested from the Shop? My reason for asking is that I have a model one on order , with a stag handle, with delivery sometime in 2017. Can I then, ask for amber stag? I assume that this would not really interfere with my order, other than perhaps raising the price.

In the past I have heard of people, including taxidermists, staining antler using potassium permanganate.

Why can you not get Ivorite on a full tang knife? Is it not durable enough or too hard to slot?

Neither. The shop has a ruling that no ivory-ivorite-white materials out of the #14 room, i.e. exposed tangs.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris
