I did the same thing (I also prefer carbon over stainless), but only because I prefer the 14 grind to a clip point.

I like the clip but wish I could get it in stainless. Wild how much we like what we like!

Rob,
The choice for the knife you prefer is available and one of the "3" listed.
Model #12-9", #14 grind, in carbon steel gives you the straight clip point (#14 style) but also let's you have carbon. I'll build any on them. If it was just love of the dollar I'd want everybody to go with the $75.00 option of stainless..."BUT"...( & this is a really big "but")...I want everyone to also "learn" from the builds. All choices are available, except you cannot request the Randall shop to make the traditional Bowie clip (concaved, if you will) in stainless. That's a "no".
Is everyone getting this?
Let me know, Capt. Chris

Yes, I'm aware that #14 grind is available in SS *and* carbon (O1?) steel.

The way this (re-)poll is set up, carbon #14 grind is a non-starter due to how everyone else is voting, so I threw my vote to SS #14 grind. "Lesser of two evils" type of voting (much like our political system). wink

If I ever had a *real* beef with any way the vote goes, I'd just pass on the build lottery, ring up one of the fine RMK dealers, order similar knife "my way." cool

... but we have yet to get to that point (and probably never will), so it's all good.

FWIW, I hope I didn't imply that you were baking the polls for love or money, that wasn't my point at all.

OK Crew:
So far we have a Randall Model #12-9", #14 grind, in stainless steel using bog oak for the custom handle! Let's work our way back, middle and end of this knife. How do you folks want it made up? Discussion for now and no vote to decide on until we hear some ideas.
Thanks, Capt. Chris

Might I suggest:
Brass model 14 hilt, brass and black spacers, model 14 fingergrips, wrist thong
