My compliments to you on your good taste. I also eschew wood handles - but like you I 'compromised' on my Presentation Grade Desert Ironwood Tom Clinton and #1 - 8". There is something compelling about the aesthetic and look of Ironwood.
Thanks, Rhett. I'm sure there's still a big gap between what I think I know about old Randalls and reality. I'm always delighted when I find out I'm wrong because it means I've leaned something. The shop was not consistant in doing things back in the "old days", so you can rarely pin down just when an old knife was made. In quantum mechanics there's something called "Heisenberg's uncertainty principle". In dating old Randalls there also has to be a "Randall uncertainty principle". I think I've mentioned before that it wouldn't surprise me if the word "circa" was invented as a result of attempting to date old Randalls.

Man, me too, great group. The No. 5 and 7 are my most favorite users. I have a "Brad" from the mid-70's that I have used for most of my adult life and seems to always be the one I go to when I am hunting or "out."

Here's a couple more of my #5's. Randall uses the best stag that money can buy IMO. The 7 inch #5 stag is a beautiful amber stag thats the color of toasted coconut. The 6 inch #5 has a very knarley piece of stag that I think is just awesome.
