I am attempting to ID the type of wood burl on this 12-8 Bear Bowie. It may be Maple Burl, but I am no expert and would appreciate any help.

A quick glance without thinking one could see Musk Ox. Really creamy handle; possibly some sort of maple burl as you suggest but I'm no expert in wood either.

Silver hardware is a nice touch sometimes. Here are three examples of it on a Randall Model 12-9.

VERY NICE knives I particularly like the lugged hilts in Silver they seem to be larger than the shop Brass ones and thicker as well. Also I don't think the shop does lugged in nickel silver so if you see that color on a lugged hilt it's probably 100% silver. By the way is 100% silver readily available these days?

(Maybe the Capt or someone else can verify that my impression is correct or not about n/s and lugged hilts?)

Nice looking 12-8. Very nice grain on the Ironwood and I like the scallopped collar and end cap.

Sorry my pics suck, I've been thinking my camera is going bad, or I just suck as a photographer.

Model 12 - 8" Bear Bowie, SS, Brass FCH, R&W&B spacers, Brown Micarta, Border Patrol Handle, Brass Butt Cap, and Wrist Thong.

The Brown Micarta has a color change from the bottom (darker) to the top (lighter) of the handle with dark speckles randomly in it.
