That's my first look at a BA Texan, a bit shorter than a Snakeslayer. Looks like the same frame, slightly shorter barrel.
One thing that hasn't been addressed is how you carry additional rounds? These derringers don't reload quickly so the first 2 better count. Yes I've seen the You Tube videos, not the average person.
In my case I would only carry.410PD rounds, and have in the 5th pocket of my jeans.
There's no speedloader, magazine, or other device to quickly reload this gun. Being right handed I'm rethinking this, you should do the same.
Comments welcomed cause I don't have a clear answer yet.

Warren,
The frames on all the BA model are all the same and all the bbls interchange.

For your reloads, did you think of Tuff Strips from Tuff Products.

The 410 rounds might be a bit too long but a reload with 45LC might do the trick.

Hey Warren:

I think my camera angle is deceptive. The Texan has a full 6” barrel while I think the Snakeslayer is 4.5”.

It is heavy! If you miss a man, you could hit him over the head with it and kill him.

Here is what the "Texan" will do to a moccasin when loaded with 3" .410.

I shot this one last evening in my back yard. He is #19 for 2018.

Right tool for the job Coach. I've used mine to dispatch a few slithering creatures and the "Snakeslayer" lives up to its reputation.

Coach,
Yipes!!! Looks like you won't have to worry about being bit by that one!!!

Do you find that the Water Moccasins are more aggressive that Rattlers???

In my neck of the woods, venomous snakes are very few and far between.

Waaay more aggressive.....
My experience has been, you leave a rattler alone, he'll do likewise. They will stand their ground if they feel threatened, otherwise they will go in the opposite direction.
Not a cottonmouth, he'll come after you eek

That's been my experience -- rattlers tend to shy away from you if you give them the chance.

ALL of the 19 that I’ve killed this year stood their ground long enough for me to stop, dig my “TEXAN” out of my 4 wheeler compartment box, unzip the soft case, get it out, cock it, aim, and pull the trigger.

Probably only 30 seconds but long enough on my place to get hid good if they wanted to hide.

And, believe me, I ain’t gonna follow one off into where they go.
