I find it interesting that 6 of the responders voted for an 8" blade and 5 voted for other blade lengths?? I don't care what we build.."BUT"..those who think this has "gone on for too long" ain't been involved in very many of these.
8" it is...Next let's discuss you preference for blade steel.

Stainless is harder and ,"if" you're talking baton technics, would not be recommended.

I prefer Carbon and saving an option.....BUT...I think Stainless is a well-spent option for a Camp Knife.

I vote carbon. My MOd 1 has been carried in rain forests and jungles without a problem and I wasn't always in nice dry camp sites. Carbon sharpens easier and I believe cuts better.
