I vote D. Anything I can't do with a 6" blade I have a hatchet or saw for in camp and 6" blade is comfortable for hiking.

Agree w/Mr. McBrearty, I don't imagine anyone here would only have 1 sharp tool with them going into camp or lodge mode! May also hold true for just leaving the house!

... where a long knife is viable for "Carry", so long as you aren't crawling in/out of vehicles often.

I'm just reading this post for the first time ... EXCELLENT!

And Cap, I REALLY was thinking of a 7" blade before I read what you said.
I have a 6" and I think they're pretty common, so I would love to see
a 7" blade ... (8" is too big in my humble opinion)

And ...
