Rocky, if you think the CMP prices are high now get ready you will be seeing a major price increase from them. And by the way the condition of the guns is going down hill rapidly. You go there and look at the stuff it is pretty weak, and the special builds they have need more quality control. Sights not movable, safety's not working. Now back when you could get the DCM guns that was coming out of the arsenals and depots that was good stuff. No CMP for me and that includes the 45 deal that may be coming if congress does not stop it. They just found out about the 45's and a storm may be brewing. oldguy
Old Guy, there's a model 70 on the cmp site now that has been bid up to 5k....from all that I know, there's not a 700 worth anywhere near that...there is nothing one can do to a 700 to make it worth 5k....I'm just say'n....I have a couple that have been "fixed up" anyway, good for them...I'd be selling as many/much as I could on that site :-)Rocky
Wayne, If you go to the CMP forums then section Ask CMP and look at the Sticky about the 1911's and the last post there where the chief manager post about them. He says they will be torn down, checked and test fired. It will be a mess and a bunch of mix matched junk. oldguy
oldguy, I have no real intention of getting a CMP anything. Too much of a hassle, not like years ago.
The last item I got from CMP was a "woodless Garand". Was not too bad and getting new wood for it was no problem. Bore was a bit murky and first test fire showed that the clip retainer spring need replacement. After that, all went well.
