Here's one of my favorite lunch or dinner, in this case dinner, filet of beef and Dutch oven pinto beans. Both cooked in a Griswold Dutch oven #6 ,and a #5 Skillet. California red wine. The best IMHO.

BTW, the best pinto beans, IMHO, are from the Bonita Bean Company in Wilcox, AZ and the best butter from Albertsons, Amish Rolled Butter.

Pappy, Frijoles with queso anejo sprinkled on top was my favorite bean dish. My low carb diet doesn't allow for beans anymore, but I would have loved to try the ones you cooked up. Great Steak Knife!

Rocky,
I used to think that pinto beans from Cortez, CO were the best until I had some from Wilcox, AZ. There is a difference in taste and tenderness. They ship anywhere.

Yes, Bonita Bean Company, Wilcox, AZ. Buy the 10 lb bag.

Pap, There ain’t nothing better to cook beans in than a Griswold Dutch oven. I’ve got a #10.

The hell with a crock pot!

Put them beans on low, about 10 bubbles a minute and let ‘em go all night.

I used to have all of the Griswold Dutch ovens from #6-12, never had an opportunity to get a 13. Had over 300 pieces of Griswold, but sold most of them last year. I still have DO #6-10. Nothing made today compairs to Griswold cast iron. Lodge does make a USA made cast iron and is very usable and sturdy.
