Years ago I bought a Weatherby Center Fire Pistol built on a MK5 light action, SS fluted barrel, laminated stock. Had my choice of .22-.250, .243, or .308. Bad choice on my part, the .308 was way too jumpy. I think the others would have been better choices. Anyway, I can see why it was discontinued.
I did better with my single shot TC pistol in .45-70 and shot my share of deer with it.
To its credit, any deer hit with a. 45-70 was toast. Shot a 6 pt at 15 yds and never saw anything like that before; no movement.
