When you are up to your elbows in blood and guts, and your knife slips out of your hand, if you are using a wrist thong, you can easily recover and resume business. It may not be a big issue with whitetail, but elk, caribou and moose are a different story. Trying to find a blood encased knife in a large cavity, could be troublesome, and you could get cut trying to find it. Been there done that. If this is to be a safe queen, then no matter, but I look at hunting knives all as being potential users.
