Here it is with a little natural color, taken on the day that autumn turned to winter.

My three 16s -- two Divers and a Special Fighter. I used to have four, but the black handled Diver is on its way to Orlando to be engraved with the name of a friend. I am giving it as a gift to a pioneer in diving, who already admires its craftsmanship. These knives eventually will be engraved with my name -- they're keepers!

Nice RMK 16's David.
It's always good to see Randall Made Knives that are being used.
Thanks for sharing.

Here is one of my RMK 16s in use last summer.

I am still searching for the right configuration to attach the knife to my gear for diving. The regular waxed sheath attaches nicely to a belt, but this BC has an integrated weight system and the jacket covers the knife if it is on its own belt. The waxed sheath does not work well as a leg sheath.

In this photo, the knife is in a Combat Master sheath which is attached to a D-ring. This is a decent placement. However, the keeper strap on this sheath is difficult to snap, especially with gloves on. A velcro keep would be better.

I am thinking about having a Kydex sheath made, or picking up an old pancake flipper to use for ankle placement, but they are hard to come by. Does anybody have any ideas?

Ya gotta love this description of the Model 16 from the July 1964 issue of Skin Diver magazine:

"Thoroughbred with an edge."

David,

Just a thought, but maybe give Greg Gutcher a call at Sullivans. They could most likely make you anything you want to your needs. I don't know anything abut diving but it looks like with the amount of gear you have in that photo, functional space is a problem. I believe Greg is taking orders now so give him a try.

Best,
Warren

Randall sells a nice blackhawk nylon sheath for the 16.
