This is my new dog after having to put 2 down. He to likes to sleep in the bed as did the other two until they got to old to jump up there. My wife was still alive with the first two and it got a little crowded then.

Sorry to hear about your wife's passing... Loosing the dogs you both loved must be real hard.

He looks like a real sweat dog! I hope he lives long and give you comfort.

Did some digging (get it) and here's Chester. One of several Golden Retrievers I had over the years. By far the smartest and sweetest animal that ever lived. Not a field dog by any means, he hated loud noises. Shotgun noise, he'd be gone for good. Summertime thunderstorms, he'd hear them way before us and head for the bathtub and start digging a hole to China. Good news is he never had to get his nails clipped.
He'd grab anything fair game around the house, shoes, socks, the TV remote and parade around the house until he got his treat. Too bad they don't live for generations like parrots. This was a real good one. Here's some of his adventures.

Another sweet dog. Humans and dogs form a perfect pair. Indeed to bad they they don't live as long as parrots. They are the perfect animal for us and it hurts like hell when you loose one.

When I worked in the woods, I had my 2 border collies with me every day. Best dogs I every had. I was told that a lucky man had one great wife, one great dog and one great horse in his life. The Lord has blessed me me with all three. I had a horse named Crazy that no one wanted, but she would do anything for me. Packed elk, dragged dead cows, packed cougars, bears, didn't matter. Her only bad habbit was her stiff downhill walk, a killer. Many times I decided to walk down hill than ride, she was so rough, but I'd take Crazy any day. On one hunt we shot a nice bull and had to pack it out that night. I saddle packed 1/2 half so had to walk out. Up a very steep hill, Crazy started up to camp and I hung onto her tail and she pull me and the elk all the way up to camp. I'll never forget that.
