That is something else. A year ago last December,a State Trooper lost his tracking dog on a search (I won't make any comments on THAT!). Fortunately the dog was located two days later. I thought that the coyotes got it for sure.

These tracking devices have been out for some time. I thought that the state,at least with all the taxes they have on us,would have the foresight to get tracking devises for their K-9s.

But I said...think.

Which GPS tracker are you using?

I use Findster. It is very good up to about a half mile. I also use an old Garmin Astro 220 with DC 30 as a backup if they are going to go out of range of Findster.

I have had to locate them with Garmin, then drive close enough to pick them up with Findster. Both are “Live Tracking” so I can tell where they are heading.

My Garmin setup has a range of a mile or so but not near the map detail. It is 10-12 years old and the newer models are much better but cost over $1000.

Do you worry about him getting attacked by Dingo Dogs while he is outside at night??

They much of a problem in your area?? Here,at least in my area,we have a serious problem with coyotes. Just a few days ago,yet another dog was attacked and killed in it's yard when it went outside in the morning.

I sounds as if people in your area, and maybe others, need to have a coyote killing dog to protect the smaller ones.

I hear about people out walking dogs on leashes having their dogs attacked. Some wildlife experts suggest people carry bear spray to fend them off, but that sounds unfeasible since most dog walkers would not carry anything as bulky as a can of bear spray, and it could be hard to use it effectively as they come in for the attack.

Ahh. Our block is 10 acres and fenced and Stitch can be very savage when he wants to be. We do have wild dogs and ones that are halberd with dingoes
We lost a beautiful English Pointer to those a few years ago

Some folks are oblivious to the dangers around them and rely on dialing 911 in case of an event.

When seconds count and help is minutes (many) away,that is not a very good option.

The past year six dogs/people have been attacked in this area while walking their dogs. Three dogs injured,three killed.

Trust me,if I still had a dog,and was out with it,I would have a container of bear spray and something else to back it up.
