I went to this thread to look at some 16's....
I am going to order one from the shop next week.
Where are all the 16's....must not be a very popular model.
:-)Rocky

Hope this is in the right forum...I have heard that Johnson stamped a "W" on his waxed sheaths that he made for the model #16, supposedly this was done staring in the early 1970s

I have a model #16 black micarta handle, brass lined thong hole with no "W" on the waxed sheath (the sheath is identicle to a Brown Micarta unlined thong hole version vietnam era #16 knife and Johnson waxed sheath that I also have)

My question is the lined thong hole would date the knife to later 70s at the earliest, right and I know that the knife and sheath have been a pair since new so what gives?

"Is this just first in last out" or am I missing something...Thanks in advance for any help I may recieve here.

By the way Rocky that is quite the nice Tennite!

you might try starting a new thread on that query as this is old old and people periodically just add to it

Rex, Thank you for that! I have Sheldons book and somehow missed that paragraph...That said ole "Melvin" is certainly correct the majority of the time and I will believe that information. THANKS AGAIN
